Faux Finishes

Faux painting is a technique which can offer endless possibilities when it comes to interior painting.  A variety of tools are used to create a specific look that is both decorative and unique.  Old world, metallic and stone are some of the popular faux finishes used, giving your rooms both color and texture.  Specific techniques used to obtain these looks include:

  • Color Washing – Color washing is obtained by mixing paint with glaze.  You can choose any color you like to be mixed with the glaze.  The results are a subtle variance in color with a decorative feel.  Lighter and darker hues mix together to produce a rich and enticing look to your interior.
  • Rag Rolling -Rag rolling is achieved with 2 varying coats of paint.  A darker base coat is applied.  Once dried, a second coat of a lighter shade mixed with glaze is applied with the rag rolling technique.  This technique provides depth and style with different color shades.
  • Sponging -As with rag rolling, a base coat is first applied.  The second color is mixed with a glaze and applied with a sea sponge.  A wide variety of looks can be achieved with sponging due to the multitude of colors that can be used to create the effect.
  • Striping – Striping is accomplished with a variety of color choices and can make a room appear wider or taller.  Stripes can be made in uniform widths or alternating sizes to create a unique pattern.  Many different designs can be achieved with striping, which all depends on color and creativity.

Endless Possibilities will help you with color choices as well as design to ensure you are completely satisfied with your interior painting project.  Our experienced team of professionals is waiting to be of assistance to you.
